Here comes the 6th edition of the Journées nationales de l’architecture, with the feelgood theme this year of “living together” and – as usual – a whole host of interesting free events!

Let’s see what’s on offer near our hotels…

Once again, there’s so much on offer that you’ll have to pick and choose your visits carefully. Let’s focus on the Left Bank to whittle things down, especially places taking part for the first time.

— The Post Office Museum, near the Hotel & Spa la Belle Juliette, has an architectural visit and conference on offer

— Agency CoBe Architecture et Paysage would like you to see their new offices which look pretty swish

— The Saint-Christophe de Javel church, with its striking 1920s architecture, has a Mediterranean concert for you (?), featuring the Hommes de La Villette Choir…

— You can visit the Théâtre de la Cité Internationale, see a free show there and admire the exhibition Villes périssables by Philippe Calandre, featuring photomontages of photos taken in Venice, Brussels and Singapore

— Chana Orloff is opening her workshop-museum (her words, not ours), housed in a distinctive building designed by Auguste Perret

— And there’s 1h45 guided trail you can follow (with a sheet of indications to help) in order to discover the various projects proposed for the area around Notre-Dame. The walk is enriched with photos, archive images and ‘sound capsules’, and you can find more info here. Places are free, and can be booked here.

And of course there’s a lot more on offer on the Left Bank:

— At the Monnaie de Paris there are architectural walks, guided visits and a 90-minute geotagged soundwalk using the Listeners app (free to download for Android and iOS). Called Les Lumières de la Rive Gauche, you can leanr more about the walk and sign up here

— The Institut of the Arab World opens its doors to you for a visit of its architecture

— An architectural walk is on offer for the new neighbourhood around the French National Library, starting in front of the MK2 Cinema

— And the École nationale supérieure d’architecture Paris-Val de Seine is pulling out all the stops for a special evening including a stage show, guided visit, documentary showing, two exhibitions…
