The last two editions of what used to be called the ‘Salon du Livre’ were cancelled, but now the event is back, and with a new name – the Festival du Livre (Book Festival) and its first edition is being held not far from our hotels, with nearly 300,000 French-language books on offer!

Intellectual francophiles rejoice! Paris’ annual French-language book fair is back, reinvigorated and renamed as the Festival du Livre de Paris, championing French publishing, French-language authors and with a special guest this year – Indian literature!

A large number of authors will be present to meet the public and sign their books, and there are also round tables, interviews, award ceremonies, workshops (an introduction to manga, astronomy for kids, the law and book lending, infographics…), talks between authors…

The full list of events can be consulted here. Be sure to check the venue though: some events are being held in other places such as the Maison de la Poésie, Canadian Cultural Centre, Dutch Institute, etc.

Also, the organisers of the Festival kindly request that you do not bring your own books to the event in the hope of getting them signed. #merci

All the big publishing houses will be present at the event, but you’ll also see a lot of smaller, more specialised companies. You may also be interested by the Festival’s official podcast, whose short episodes explore various topics related to publishing. It’s called Les coulisses de l’édition and you can check it out below!

Radio France, the French national radio, will also be present to record programmes and transmit live.
