Make the most of the warm weather and see a movie at the same time – for free! – with the festival Cinéma en plein air at La Villette!

From Wednesday to Sunday every week this summer, La Villette is spoiling us with free film showings in their large park (the perfect moment for a nice picnic!) The theme of the festival this year is So Let’s Dance, broad enough to allow them to offer not only Billy Elliot, Saturday Night Fever et The Red Shoes, but also Kubrick’s Eyes wide shut and Pedro Almodóvar’s High Heels.

Films starts at different times between 9pm and 10.15pm, depending on the length of the film and time of sundown (check out the programme for more details).

If you’re feeling peckish, you can either take your own picnic or order some nibbles once you’re there from Kermès (menu here). They have a short, eclectic selection that includes popcorn, naan bread and even oysters 😳. Also promised are “themed surprises depending on the film!

Also on offer during the festival are cine-walks along the nearby Ourcq canal (90 minutes – 15€) with a guide, showing you where certain movies have been filmed, there are cruises on the canal that will drop you back off at precisely the right time for your film (90 minutes, 23€), and short films precede the main feature on certain evenings…

There are only 20 showings left before the festival comes to an end, so get down there quickly!
