At the Delacroix Museum, super close to our hotels, a new presentation of the permanent collection showcases how Delacroix used colour in his work – including black and white – with a presentation by theme.

What a great idea to change the presentation of a whole museum instead of offering a smal temporary exhibition!

Our neighbour the Delacroix Museum has done exactly that, by going through its archives and choosing works with a special theme in mind. It’s almost like a brand new museum!

With this new presentation you’ll see just how important colour was to Delacroix, who said “my freshly prepared palette shining with contrasting colours is enough to fire up my enthusiasm“, first through his paintings of the Orient and then his black and white engravings.

The visit even finishes in the garden, also a place full of colour!

Linked with the exhibition, the museum has organised:

— a conference on 13th October,

— a study day on 27th September, “Fetishism? Artist objects in museums“,

— yoga sessions(!) on 8th September and 17th November at 6.30pm,

— a concert Couleur d’Orient on 21st September, with the Zellig Ensemble,

— performances in the garden on 1st September and 6th October starting at 6.30pm,

— workshops, guided visits…

During the exhibition, the museum is also offering Delacroix’s bedchambers as inspiration for student artists from the Paris School of Beaux-Arts, there are special events planned for Open House weekend on 17th & 18th September, an exhibition of photos by Antoine Henault from 3rd-31st December as part of the Saint-Germain Photo Festival…

Open every day except Tuesdays form 9.30am-5.30pm (7pm on Friday 5th August and Saturday 13th & 20th August)

Late night opening until 9pm on 4th August, 1st September, 6th October and 1st December (with unique special events each night)

Admission: 7€ (or 17€ for joint entry with the Louvre)

Free for everyone on Sunday 7th August, 4th September, 6th October and 4th December
