Delacroix. A Place, an Artist, a new presentation at the Delacroix Museum until 6th September 2026

The Delacroix Museum, a cultural gem very close to our hotels, has just revealed a new presentation of its collection, organised around three questions concerning the artist Delacroix:

— How did he create in the secret of his workshop?
— How did his admirers pay him homage?, and
— What do Delacroix’s friendly and professional relations tell us about him?

Delacroix. A Place, an Artist, a new presentation au the Delacroix Museum until 6th September 2026

Delacroix’s former bedroom, in the house that he lived and worked in for more than five years, has been transformed for Delacroix. A Place, an Artist in order to present not only his work but also has family and friends, his admirers and – because he wasn’t one to turn down an invitation to a social event – the network of acquaintances that facilitated his travels, notably to England and Morocco.

The presentation looks at the man and his work from a new angle, an approach that will interest even those who believe they know most everything about him.

Free guided visits of the museum are available one Saturday each month (17th January, 14th February, 14th March, 11th April, 23rd May, 13th June, 18th July and 22nd August 2026), and every day the museum is open (with a few exception) at 3.30pm, a member of staff will share their passion for the museum with visitors.

However, the museum also offers a very special visit called Rendez-vous chez Monsieur Delacroix, which costs 21€ and is happening twice on the evening of 16th January (at 6.30 and 7.30pm). It’s an immersive theatricalised visit in the presence of three famous characters who knew the painter. It’s up to you to discover who they are.

To book, send an email to this address or call +33 (0)1 44 41 86 50.

And for the museum’s full programme, all in French (a special evening for the Nuit de la lecture on 24th February, another about Delacroix’s contemporaries on 2nd February, a conference on the evening of 5th February – Delacroix and Old Paris: discovering the area around rue de Furstemberg, a workshopfor kids called Ma mini-expo on 27th February…), click here.
