11th White Night in Paris 6th October 2012

The annual one night only, all-night, free arts event is back with the theme “between the sky and the Seine”! Following the river from the west to the east (and even beyond the city limits if you want) you’ll be able to see projections, modern dance, fire (yes, fire) and a lot more.

Here’s all the info…Laurent Le Bon, head of the new Pompidou Centre in Metz (about 190 miles east of Paris) is looking after this year’s Nuit Blanche, which uses the Seine as a guide for your artistic nocturnal wanderings.

Check out the official site and the full programmes (here – but in French) for all the details. For us, this year’s special panoramic viewpoints look like an interesting concept, like the one not far from our hotels at the Pierre et Marie Curie university – you’ll be able to go up 70 metres to the 24th floor, where the public is not usually allowed.

The museum at the Institut du Monde Arabe will be open all night, Nicolas Horvath will play all of Philip Glass’ pieces for piano (5 hours!) at the Collège des Bernardins, and there’s an awful lot going on at the Gare d’Austerlitz. Don’t miss it!

Plus, certains lines of the metro will be open all night, for free! Details here.

The 2012 White Night (Nuit Blanche 2012) starts 7pm Saturday 6th October and ends 7am Sunday 7th October
