The new Forum des Images in Paris

After three years of building work, this complex – dedicated to cinema and above all films with Paris as their background – has just been inaugurated. Initially created twenty years ago, it’s now a huge designer space with a programme unparalleled anywhere in the world…

It has to be said that the Forum des Images is in the perfect spot: right next to the busiest multiplex cinema in Europe (40 million annual visitors), in the Forum des Halles (soon to be renovated), and with the new François Truffaut library (1.200 m²), 5 projection rooms – one of which can hold 500 people – 5,500 films about Paris, if you love cinema you have to go and take a look!

There are already 19,000 books, 6,200 magazines and 10,000 DVDs that be consulted on site or borrowed, plus a nouveau bar-restaurant called le “7ème bar” on the newly-created mezzanine. However, have a look at the programme and you’ll see that there’s a lot more to the Forum des Images than just watching films:

– theme cycles of films (New York, Desire, Vengeance, etc.)
– interviews (James Gray 14th December!)
– film lessons
– short films at lunchtime (special menu)
– afternoon sessions for kids
– performances
– concerts
– festivals…

Make sure you check out the official site for the in-depth info. Enjoy your film! (or your concert, or interview, or performance, etc.)
