The Cartier Foundation, not far from our hotels, presents the first exhibition outside of Australia of the colourful and abstract paintings of aboriginal artist Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori, who died in 2015.

The story of Sally Gabori’s creative life is an atypical one. She only painted during the last ten years of her life, starting age 80. 😳

Success came almost immediately, and she is now considered one of the most important artists of the past twenty years. Using vibrant colours, she created an individual style uninfluenced by other styles of art.

The exhibition, organised in close collaboration with the artist’s family and the kaiadilt community, brings together thirty large-format original paintings, all being shown outside of Australia for the first time.

Related to the exhibition, there are:

— guided visits are available in French at 4pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays,

— there’s a Sally Gabori night on 5th July starting 7pm,

— workshops in French are available for kids (Une aiguille comme pinceau, Atlas chromatique…)

— and a catalogue of the exhibition will be published on 28th July with 96 works to marvel at (270 pages, 62€ here at amazon.fr.
