Actress Audrey Tautou, who rose to global fame in the film Amelie, has since taken a step back from filming and stage work to devote more time to her daughter and her passion: photography.

Quai de la Photo, not far from our hotels, has given over all its indoor galleries to her creations for the next couple of months, allowing us to discover Tautou’s offbeat take on the world, made up of unusual self-portraits and other quirky scenes.

And the exhibition is free!

Audrey Tautou has been taking photo for a long time now. You could almost say that she prefers to do that than make movies or act in plays (her film and stage presence is more than discrete these days), and this passion has grown to become a book project – Superfacial – that has inspired an eponymous free photo exhibition at Quai de la Photo, demonstrating her sense of humour and wilfull self-dérision.

You’ll see a different side to the actress through her shots, notably thanks to a series of unusual self-portraits. These photos are accompanied by two other series, one of ordinary, anonymous people photographed from behind (in contrast to her ‘fame’), and another featuring Polaroid shots of many journalists that have interviewed her over the years, once again displaying her atypical attitude to the rigmaroles of being a public persona.

As for all the venue’s exhibitions, free guided visits are available (in French) from Wednesday to Sunday at 12.30pm, 2.30pm, 4.30pm and 6.30pm
