Paris’ biggest contemporary art fair (and quite possibly the biggest in Europe) is back for real, after a virtual edition last year, and as the Grand Palais – its usual venue – is closed for refurbishment, we are lucky enough to have the FIAC to enjoy at the Grand Palais Éphémère, near our hotels!

This is the event of the year for modern art lovers – over 170 galleries from 25 countries (including 32 attending for the first time) will be present for this, the 47th edition of the exceptional FIAC art fair.

While most galleries are in what is known as the General Sector of the fair, you might like to seek out the Young Galleries Sector for ultra-fresh art, and don’t neglect the Design Sector with “key players from the world of modernist and contemporary design and furniture”.

All participating galleries will also have an Online Viewing Room, plus 43 additional galleries without a physical presence at the fair.

The FIAC also offers art-related events across Paris while the fair is open, what they call ‘hors les murs‘, including:

— over twenty art pieces and installations to enjoy in the Tuileries Gardens,

— a monumental piece from 1975 by Alexander Calder to be admired on place Vendôme, and

— an exhibition by artist Jean Claracq at the Delacroix Museum super close to our hotels!

And let’s not forget Gallery Night on Thursday 21st October from 6-10pm, with over twenty participants on the Left Bank near us, dozens more in areas across town, and special events in many of the city’s museums and art foundations.

You should also know that this year there are no tickets being sold on the door to the event – it’s online sales only, and you can get your ticket here.

And if you think that the entrance price is getting steeper every year, you’re right. It’s now at 40€, 5% up on last time, and the concessions rate has been raised 8% 😥 Luckily, under 12s still get in free 😳
