Artist Eva Jospin, known for her large, nature-inspired sculptures in corrugated cardboard and her embroidery, has her preparatory drawings on show for the first time at the Beaux-Arts de Paris (School of Fine Arts), super close to out hotels!

Eva Jospin studied at the Beaux-Arts, and her exhibition is part of a series organised by the school’s drawings department, showcasing the work of former students.

If you have never seen Jospin’s impressively large cardboard constructions, they are well worth your attention (there’s one in the nearby posh shopping court Beaupassage), and her Indian ink drawings – on show for the first time – give an interesting look into her creative process.

The exhibition is also an opportunity for Jospin to confront her own work with drawings from the school’s collection that she particularly likes (chosen from the 2,500 pieces in the archives), particularly 17th and 18th drawings of architecture and nature from far-away lands.

If you have never seen the artist’s work, this is a great opportunity to get to know it, and interestingly, the price of entry is for you to decide.

The Beaux-Arts has what they call a ‘responsible’ approach that gives free entrance to under-18s and the unemployed (plus others), while also allowing general visitors to decided how much to pay for their ticket, based on their finances or degree of support: 2€, 5€ or 10€.

It’s a great idea we would like to see adopted more widely.
