Mélanie is assistant director at the Hotel Saint-André des Arts, our latest four-star establishment!

She tells us how she came to work there, and reveals some of her favourite addresses nearby…

To increase both my skills and experience, I spent my three years of hotel business studies (2017-2020) doing work-based learning, each year in a new hotel and new position. This gave a diverse perspective and I was able to discover many different posts within different hotel structures.

I was head chambermaid in two large establishments, and spent my final year in a small hotel, the Hotel les Dames du Panthéon (one of the hotels in the HPRG collection), at reception.

Afterwards, I started working at the Hotel Saint-André des Arts as a receptionist. The hotel opened in June 2021 and I was there for the opening, together with Josselin, the manager of the establishment. Opening a hotel is such an enriching experience – everything has to be prepared, the hotel services have to be developed, there are new employees to train… the hotel has to be brought to life for its guests.

A few months later, in April 2022, this experience and the support that Josselin gave me allowed me to be promoted to the post of Head of Reception.

I’m someone who needs to be constantly learning, and this new post allowed me to take on new responsibilities and discover new things.

Recently, at the beginning of 2023, I was delighted to be able to continue this evolution by becoming Assistant Director of the Hotel Saint-André des Arts. I’m really looking forward to continuing this new experience, as I love it!
