The Croatian-Bulgarian-American photographer Nadezda Nikolova has a new show of her intriguing photos, or rather her ‘wet plate collodion photograms’ 😳 at the lovely Galerie Esther Woerdehoff, not far from our hotels!

With a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science & Conservation and a Master’s degree in Policy Analysis, Nadezda Nikolova is not your everyday photographer, and neither is her creative process.

Niklova uses printing processes dating from the 19th century in order to create imaginary landscapes, not quite photos but not paintings either – strange, sombre worlds, sometimes abstract, always evocative.

It’s her recent series Elemental Forms: Landscape Rearticulated that you can see at the Galerie Esther Woerdehoff, unique wet plate collodion photograms that should be viewed up close in order to appreciate the fine details, and the emotion they emanate.
