The Clos Belle Juliette’s main room is perfect for an intimate dinner during your stay at the hotel, and there’s also a heated terrace overlooking the garden, which is prettily illuminated for the holidays and a lovely place to sit during the warm weather.

The restaurant is also happy to accept reservations from people not staying at the hotel (you can even book very simply online).

Welcomed with genuine beaming smiles from the team, we decided to dine on the comfortable heated terrace where there’s plenty of space between tables, making it perfect for a meal with a friend or loved one.

After ordering a little sparkling water to start, we were served a complimentary amuse-bouche of tapenade with toasted bread, and asked Thomas to choose wine to go with our dishes (he really knows his wine!)

We thought a starter might be too filling, and decided to head straight for a main dish each (you can find all the info about the new autumn-winter menu here).

The first dish is a roasted filet of sea bass – well cooked, melt-in-the-mouth, served with lemon butter and a generous square of butternut gratin – and the second, a vegetarian ‘Juliette bowl’ (which, strictly speaking, is a starter but can be expanded to make a main course). This arrives in a generous portion, well seasoned with a nice dressing, and contained an impressive number of different ingredients, colours and tastes.

Actually, it was so copious, we had a hard time finishing it!

After these two delicious healthy dishes, we decided to order a plate of French cheeses selected by Ludovic Bisot, awarded the honour of ‘Meilleur Ouvrier de France‘ and owner of a specialised cheese shop called Tout un fromage. Our selection had four types of cheese including incredibly creamy Brie du Pays from Rambouillet and some amazing Brillat-Savarin.

There’s an advised tasting order from the lightest to strongest taste, and although we opted not to, you might like to order another glass of wine that will bring out the exceptional tastes that only cheese can bring!

We also enjoyed the figs, apricots, redcurrants and strawberries that were as decorative as they were delicious…

And then, finally, it was time for dessert!

The cheese had really filled us up, but one look at the dessert trolley made us realise we had to make an effort…

Many of the desserts on offer change daily, and there were a number of these that caught our eye. Eventually, our (difficult) choice was a chocolate tart with what seemed like a marzipan base and a very sweet sablé underneath, and a lemon meringue tart which was light but firm to the fork, singed just as it should be, complemented by a well-balanced lemon centre that was neither too tart nor too sweet.

You really shouldn’t miss out on these!

What a lovely evening we had at the Clos Belle Juliette!

The staff are adorable, neither too formal nor too familiar, they know their dishes, have a vast knowledge of the wines on offer, and the dishes are very confidently cooked and well presented.

Perhaps we’re biased, but we think you won’t regret your visit!

The restaurant is open for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, and for more info about the new menu, read our article here.

Le Clos Belle Juliette (here) est ouvert pour le dîner tous les jours sauf dimanche et lundi
