Sensory Odyssey at the Natural History Museum until 4th July 2022

The Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle (Natural History Museum) near our hotels is currently offering visitors the world premiere of Sensory Odyssey, huge HD projections with accompanying sounds and smells that will transport you deeper into nature than you’ve ever been…

Also known as l’Odyssée Sensorielle, the Sensory Odyssey is a French project with global ambitions, an immersive experience presented like an exhibition, with several rooms offering high-definition projections of scenes of nature, a little similar to the Atelier des Lumières on the other side of town, which is more art-orientated.

There is no narration for the experience, just huge incredible images projected onto every vertical surface, accompanied by specially-curated sounds and even smells.

It’s an experience perfect to visit as a family, as both kids and adults will surely find it impressive…

L’Odyssée sensorielle au Muséum jusqu'au 4 juillet 2022

The project is a collaboration between several French companies including Mardi 8 (whose websote is worth taking a look at), People Are Sound for the sound design, Nez and La Guilde for the olfactive side, and Projectiles for the images. The latter has a short film showing how things look behind the scenes. Interesting stuff…

There are a number of events on offer related to the Odyssey (you’ll find the list here) and a book has just been published to accompany the experience – 216 pages, 25€ here at amazon.fr.
